The 2+1 program with the prestigious University of San Diego makes it possible to complete the first two years on the campus of the European University of Tunis and to pursue one, two or three terms of the third year internationally at the campus of San Diego State University in the United States, an elite course with the possibility of continuing studies in California and unique job opportunities. Immersion are available for advanced English-speaking students who would like the opportunity to take classes with American students for one or two semesters. This program offers a way to experience an American university for one or two semesters without going through the regular SDSU admissions or exchange process. Students can choose from a variety of certificates and receive an official SDSU transcript with transferable credits.

Since its founding in 1897, San Diego State University has grown into a premier public research university with a distinguished international focus. Oldest institution of higher education in San Diego, John F Kennedy, then President of the United States, gave the commencement address at the June 6, 1963 graduation ceremony, JFK received an honorary doctorate at the ceremony, Civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. addressed a packed audience at the University's Open Air Theater. King called for passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. And in April 2012, the XIV Dalai Lama spoke at American University's "Viejas Arena" as part of his "Compassion Without Borders". SDSU is home to more than 300 clubs and organizations. Students take advantage of the various on-campus athletic structures and activities and San Diego State traditions. Over 90 SDSU students have received Fulbright Awards since 2005.
